Project Background

The 120 people involved in this stage of the project did a fantastic job of managing the local environment and delivering a great product on time.

Project Overview

Before starting on construction, we demolished two large water tanks and removed them for recycling. Treescape also cleared several mature Macrocarpa trees, with the wood chips from them given to locals for garden mulch.

Our small site had a 13m difference in elevation across it!

This topography, combined with a wet winter, gave greater importance to the erosion and sediment controls. Our team made comprehensive plans and implemented them thoroughly to prevent slips and run-off into the nearby Henderson Creek.

The team managed this with proactive checks on controls and by investing a little more time and resources into environmental protection. We went above and beyond what the contract called for and as a result, had great results on all Auckland Council Environmental Audits.

The first stage of this project added 85+ parking spaces to be used by staff and visitors to the location.

To allow the steep site to accommodate these spaces, over 1300m² of keystone style, retaining walls were constructed to create four levels.

Key Aspects

Building the stairways between the retaining walls (to connect the parking areas with the building) was a delicate dance between the sub-trades on some days, but the result is near perfect.

The next phase of this project adds another 50 parking spaces and landscaping to tie it all together!
